South Korea Country Manager

Our client is a leading trademark enforcement agency. We operate in 8 other territories in Asia, in addition to South Korea, for clients mainly in the luxury industry. The Company is looking for its Country Representative in Seoul acting as office manager and coordinating actions and strategies decided by the head office in Hong Kong.  The candidate will be based in Seoul and will report to the Chairman of the Group located in Hong Kong.

 


Job Description



The Country Manager will be the only person working in a co-working space in Seoul.  He/She will have regular contacts with the head-office as well as with investigators/authorities on the field. The candidate will be asked to conduct some investigations and market surveys. For such purpose, He/She will have such to travel on a regular basis within Seoul, but also to other cities of South Korea. The Country representative is also expected to report to the head office the new brands (luxury industry) he/she is seeing frequently on the local market, however not a current client of the Company.


 


The Country Manager will have to manage the following tasks:


 


  1. Administration

  • Liaise with head-office on a weekly basis or as frequently as needed if required, to report activity of the subsidiary in Korea;
  • Liaise with our 1/3 party accounting agency and provide them timely information so that they can conduct their work efficiently;
  • Liaise with our finance and accounting department in Hong Kong and provide them timely information so that they can conduct their work efficiently;
  • Comply to the Company handbook and other expenses policy established by the Head office in Hong Kong

 


  1. Operations

  • Ensure operations conducted locally are in-line with strategy decided by the head-office as well as in–line with operational budget;
  • Manage and grow operational teams in Korea so that they respect company policies and company strategy;
  • Ensure good relationship with local authorities in order to maintain a good relationship and working conditions;
  • For each operation ensure proper collection and submission of documents;
  • Ensure operations conducted locally are properly reported to the head-office, timely using our internal database;
  • Conduct investigations to identify new places where counterfeited products are sold in order to help local operations team;
  • Conduct investigations to identify brands that are not in our portfolio but which could lead to new clients;
  • Directly in charge of verification of products seized by Customs;
  • Accompany Clients on markets, when required;
  • Have occasional contact with local office of some brands
  • Control the validity of the POAs for the country
  • Capable of presenting development and growth ideas to the Head office

 



Job Requirements  



 


  • Experience in the Intellectual Property Enforcement business is a major plus
  • Knowledge on the Country regulations and its evolution towards the Intellectual Property Rights is a major plus
  • Korean and Fluent in English (verbally and in writing) is a must;
  • Strong analytical skills and good business understandings;
  • Good understanding of the luxury products and brands; their distribution channels such as e commerce
  • Good understanding of other industry (other than the luxury industry) is a major plus
  • Independent mindset and good interpersonal skills;
  • Strong sense of responsibility and able to meet deadlines;
  • Knowledgeable on Microsoft tools such as excel, PowerPoint etc…
