Packaging Design Manager

Our client is a French innovative SME, expert in designing cutting edge packaging solutions for the Cosmetics industry (brushes, squeeze tubes, and all kinds of tools and accessories, many of them patented).
To strengthen their Product Development team in China, they are recruiting a Design Manager, based in Shenzhen, and reporting (functionally) to the Technical Director (based in France).

Job Description
Your role will focus on “bridging” France and China when it comes to Product Development, with key responsibilities as follows:
•    Liaise between the 2 technical teams (Paris-based and China-based)
•    Manage and supervise the local team (3 Engineers)
•    Supervise and monitor the network of local suppliers (including frequent on-site visits)
•    Manage some own projects
•    Always be on the lookout for new market insights, new technical solutions, and new ways to bring value to the clients and the end users
In more details, you will:
•    Discuss the technical definition of products with innovation and Development team in Paris 
•    Consolidate all technical, industrial, economic and normative requirements required for design purposes
•    Suggest technical solutions to Development and Marketing teams
•    Draw up technical tendering documents (project drawings, initial specifications, recommendations, etc.)
•    Organize approval process according to quality system procedures
•    Issue technical specifications and quotations
•    Monitor all stages within the packaging service, and avoid any potential deviation (planning, resources, costs, financial risks)
•    Find and propose ways to improve existing products (functionality, cost, quality, productivity, etc.)

Job Requirements    
•    Engineering background with at least 10 years of work experience, preferably in packaging, 
•    Solid experience in packaging and/or manufacturing process, for new product development, ideally in Cosmetics
•    Good communication skills, both with local teams and players, and with HQ and teams in France
•    Proactive, hands-on, and solution-driven mindset
•    Able to lead and grow a team
•    Fluent in both English and Mandarin Chinese (French would be a plus)
•    Able to frequently travel (within China for suppliers’ visits), to France (for meetings and trainings at HQ – once a year)
