Regional Finance Manager

Our client is a global provider of garment, apparel, and fashion labeling solutions to clients around the world. Represented through regional offices and local partners, an industry pioneer, the company is active around the world. To support continued growth, the company seeks to hire a Regional Finance Manager, for Asia Pacific, based in Hong Kong.


The Regional Finance Manager reports to the Regional Managing Director, in the Hong Kong regional office, and the Group Financial Controller in Europe. A new position, this person is responsible for developing, managing, and delivering strategic financial services to the company across the Asia Pacific region, and especially in Hong Kong, mainland China and Vietnam. As a regional functional leader, this person is accountable for supporting business growth across the region while ensuring increasingly efficient operations and cost controls.


Job Description:

  • Responsible for all accounting and ledger activities
    • AP, AR and GL, financial reporting and budgeting, etc…
  • Monthly management accounts preparation, approval, and presentation to management
  • Reconciliation of complex accounts
    • Ensure accuracy and completeness of general ledger
  • Credit and debt management
    • Ensure credit policies are adhered to, and optimized as required
    • Ensure all credit notes are properly and efficiency processed and approved
    • Direct oversight and ownership of resolution of problematic accounts
    • Oversee long-standing debtor balances and advice action for recovery, including stop orders, debt factoring, etc...
  • Implement and maintain a daily margin exceptions record
    • Investigate discrepancies in partnership with production managers
  • Support capex justifications and approvals
  • Identify, strategize, and execute finance cost-saving and efficiency initiatives
  • Review monthly non-management payroll
  • Supervise and ensure compliance with internal control procedures
  • Coordinate annual audit
    • Assist external auditors
    • Preparation of data / finance packs
    • Review AFS details
  • Be accountable for annual insurance
  • Calculate, monitor, and accurately forecast dye houses’ HFO usage
    • Oversight of charge-back/charge-out processes
  • Update dye house pricing and track pricing trends
  • Ownership of pricing data in all systems
    • Ensure all price commitments are reviewed and updated prior to expiry
  • Oversee purchasing of local and overseas sourced goods
  • Indirectly manage related factory-side finance functions
  • Cash monitoring and management         
    • Weekly cash reporting to Group
    • Monthly monitor, review, and report of working capital
  • Review of costing standards and practices
    • Periodic reviews of labor and raw materials standard costs 
    • Present annual labor and overhead calculation rates
    • Accountable for maintenance of costing system and cost templates
    • Responsible for driving real cast savings and efficiencies across the organization
  • Prepare and present monthly KPI reports for monthly management reporting
    • Partner with Production to provide strategic guidance on constant improvement
  • Update stock plan schedule
  • Support strategic business development projects
  • Ownership of administrative technology and support vendors’ contracts and service levels
  • Management oversight of proprietary labeling SCMS (supply chain management software)

Job Requirements:

  • At least 10 years’ relevant experience
    • Ideally from garment and apparel accessories, labeling, brand protection or other related businesses
    • Five-plus years’ people-management preferred
    • Strong exposure to finance of Hong Kong and Vietnam manufacturers
  • Relevant undergraduate degree
    • CPA not necessary
  • Good understanding of subcontracting models for Hong Kong and mainland China
  • Excellent commercial acumen and organizational communications
  • Track-record of successful ERP implementation 
    • Ideally Sage
  • Excellent spoken and written English and Chinese
