Our client is a well-established private label knitwear manufacturer with 5 offices worldwide, 35 years of experience working in China and state of the art design centers in Shanghai and New York.
Job location: Shanghai
Scope: The Knitwear Designer is responsible to assist the design team by presenting ideas and conveying trends to customers though formal presentations, casual meetings and phone/email conversations with customer counterparts (designers/buyers).

Job description
- Works with NY design team to identify, understand and define with conviction seasonal knitwear trends and color, yarn and stitch direction for assigned customers. These presentations can be supplemented with retail samples
- Assist NY design team with specific customers by doing CAD designs, sketches and mood boards in advance of seasonal customer meetings, to direct and effect development
- Assist both SH and NY design teams to develop additional samples that interpret trends at varying price points relevant to DZ Group customers
- Responsible for assisting with designing men's studio collection for fall and spring seasons, including board trend presentation, sample collection
- Maintains each account history by filing and organizing Top Sheets, Spec Tech packs, Lap Dips, Fit Comments and other necessary documentation
- Assist Production team to review and critique development packs and/or samples from technical/design perspective
- Responsible to take direction or assist SH design team when necessary in seasonal customer presentation, development and research for assigned customers or other accounts
- Works closely with NY to ensure communication with customer is accurate and smooth
Job Requirements
- BFA from accredited Fashion Design School or Associate Degree in Fashion Design
- A minimum of 4 years working experience
- Must have experience in men's and women's knitwear, cut & sew and CAD design
- Ability to recognize and creatively interpret seasonal trends through boards and/or product
- Good knowledge of knitting machinery, stitches and technical terminology
- Good sense of color and style
- Knowledge and experience in cut & sew knits
- Ability to sketch/spec/measure, as well as technical knowledge of sweaters and of knitting process
- Strong presentation skills
- Experience with China based production
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent computer skills, proficient in Illustrator, Photoshop, PLM/PDM
